Apple Will Launch iPad 2 On March 2

Apple will launch iPad 2 on March 2 at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. The upcoming iPad will be thinner and lighter than the current and original model, which began shipping last April, reports from numerous sources.

Speculated, iPad 2 will more likely have new features and will be powered by the iOS 5. The iPad 2 will have a multi-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU (single-core ARM Cortex-A8), dual-core SGX543 GPU (single-core SGX535), 2048 x 1536 display at 260 dpi (1024 x 768 at 132 dpi) – Retina Display, GSM/CDMA chipset (GSM only), a front camera for FaceTime video chatting and a rear camera for taking photos.

The iPad 2 will run on both GSM and CDMA networks. Also rumored that iPad 3 is now the rage, with some stories predicting a late-2011 launch for Apple's third tablet.

Besides the speculating of iPad 2 specification and features, there’s also an interesting question about the iPad 2 announcement. Today is 4 days until the March 2 Apple Media Event when iPad 2 will be announced, but one question still remains, who unveil the device? Will iPad 2 be announced by Steve Jobs, despite recent health issues, or will Tim Cook, acting Apple chief, make the announcement?

Apple’s shareholders are already asking for updates regarding Steve’s health and status with the company, and given that issue, it would appear that Apple COO and acting-CEO Tim Cook will announce iPad 2 March 2, reports TechRadar. We will see later.
