How To Make Infrared Receiver. You can build your own infrared receiver and control your personal computer with your TV remote. IR receivers are not only used in TV remotes. You can use an IR receivers as part of a more ambitious experimental project. To make infrared receiver, follow the steps below.
How to make Infrared Receiver:
- Make sure you have all the ting's you'll need, these are Tweezers, Wire cutter, Cross screwdriver, Soldering equipment, Sub D 9-pin serial box and nine-pin female connector, TSOP 1738 IR receiver, 4.7 Electrolitic capacitor, 5V 100mA Voltage regulator, 4.7kOhm resistor, 1N4148 universal diode, and Wire.
- Bend one of the IR receiver's data pins in an "L" shape so all three data pins will fit into the narrow end of your serial box using tweezers.
- Bend the pins on your voltage regulator in an "L" shape so the longest section lies horizontal, perpendicular to the body of the voltage regulator. Connect the central pin to the fifth pin of the serial connector. Solder the output pin to the IR receiver.
- Cut the wires on the diode and the resistor short. Solder one end of the diode to the input pin of the voltage regulator and insert the other end into the seventh pin of the serial connector. Insert one end of the resistor into the first pin of the serial connector and solder the other end to the regulator's input pin.
- Cut a piece of wire so it can reach from the data pin of the IR receiver to the first pin of the serial connector. Solder the wire to he IR receiver's data pin and the first pin of the serial connector.
- Solder the positive pin of the capacitor to the output pin of the voltage regulator. Solder the negative pin to the ground of the IR receiver and the ground of the voltage regulator.
- Insert the circuit into the serial box. Close the serial box and fix with screws. Insert your new IR receiver into the serial port of your PC. Enjoy!
