
Xcode is a suite of tools for developing software for Mac OS X and iOS. The latest version of Xcode is Xcode 4 which released on March 9, 2011. The software was made available for free to all registered members of the $99 per year Mac Developer program and the 99$ per year iPhone Developer program and for $4.99 to non-members on the Mac App Store.
Xcode version 4 is the first paid version, older versions of Xcode are freely available from the Apple Developer Connection website. Apple said, “Xcode 4 is the new version of Apple’s powerful integrated development environment for creating great apps for Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Xcode 4 includes the Xcode IDE, Instruments, iOS Simulator, and the latest Mac OS X and iOS SDKs.
Then, Apple added, "Xcode 4 has a streamlined new interface that integrates UI design, coding, testing, and debugging, all within a single window. The embedded Apple LLVM compiler underlines coding mistakes as you type, and is even smart enough to fix the problems for you automatically".
Recently, Apple has updated Xcode 4 and has stated that the software OS free of charge to download for those who are apart of their iOS and Mac OS Development Program. Non-members of the program are going to have to go to the App Store on their Mac and pay to acquire the software.
