
Firebug is a mozilla extension that allows the debugging, editing, and monitoring of any website's CSS, HTML, DOM, and JavaScript. Firebug is a useful tool for web security testing and for web site performance analysis. Firebug is free and open source.
Besides for debugging function, Firebug also provides other Web development tools and has a JavaScript console for logging errors and watching values. Firebug pre-loaded with a "Net" feature which monitors the amount of time in milliseconds it takes to execute scripts and load images on the page.
Firebug was created by Joe Hewitt in January 2006. Now, Firebug is licensed under the BSD license. The Firebug Working Group oversees the open source development and extension of Firebug.
Firebug not only comes as an extension (add-on) for Mozilla Firefox, but also as an in-page implementation called Firebug Lite. As of November 2010, approximately 3 million users have the Firebug add-on installed. And for 2011, Firebug is developing a cross-browser version.
You can download it at http://getfirebug.com. After download and install Firebug, you just need one click to start it. You will see a gray 'Firebug' in the Firefox status bar (along the bottom of the window). Click on the Bug to start. Firebug will open in the bottom of your web page. It’s one of important tool.
