Firefox 4 Beats Market

After 24 hours available, Mozilla Firefox 4 beats Microsoft's Internet Explorer 9 in the number of downloads. The Firefox 4 was downloaded more than 3 million times. It's amazing number, but it seems will not for long time, because the number of IE 9 downloads will quickly surpass Firefox once Microsoft distributes the browser to the millions of Windows Vista and Windows 7 users as a free software update.

Mozilla Firefox has about 21% of the market, followed by Google Chrome with 11%, and Apple Safari with 6%. Firefox must have strategy to boost the popularity in the market.

Mozilla plans to release a version of Firefox 4 for mobile devices running Android and Maemo operating systems in couple weeks. With Firefox 4 mobile, you can sync their Firefox bookmarks, passwords, preferences, history, and tabs between multiple computers and mobile devices. May be it's one of Firefox strategy to expand their market to mobile.

But, the plan to expand mobile browser also seems will not for long time. It’s because in the future, the importance of the browser is diminishing steadily, as people increasingly access web services directly from mini-apps running on their devices. People now like to turn to smartphones, tablets, and other web-enabled mobile devices. How Firefox will anticipate the future? We will see.
